Ingredients:
1/2 to 3/4 package
frozen peas
4 dashes black pepper
1 tablespoon hot sauce (99 cent store brand)
1 tablespoon soy sauce (any brand)
1 teaspoon olive oil
3-7 tablespoons nutritional (inactive) yeast
1 cinnamon raisin bagel (not Lender's)
Cream cheese (generic grocery brand)
Rick sez: Cook the frozen peas as directed. I prefer to nuke 'em; it's more convenient when you're watching TV. Toast both halves of the bagel. Take the cooked peas outta the microwave. Drain off most of their pea-flavored fluid, then add the olive oil, hot sauce and soy sauce. (If you don't have a bottle of soy sauce handy, you can use a couple of pinches of salt instead, or packets of take-out soy sauce; you can also use some cayenne instead of hot sauce, but be sure to leave a little more pea water in the dish at the beginning.) Add the black pepper, then stir in the nutritional yeast until you have a nice brownish-yellow vegetarian goop coating your peas. (The yeast is good 'n' tangy and adds real zing to peanut butter sandwiches, too.) Add cream cheese to the bagel, and eat the peas with a spoon in between crunchy bites of bagel. This dish goes well with a glass of Pepsi, or with a can of Jumex brand mango nectar. Enjoy!
