Namella sez:
Here's
something I can't believe that I'm doing. I am practicing the
science of macrobiotics - the Eastern vegetable- and grain-centered
diet for healing and weight loss. I read that Iggy Pop was a practicing
macrobiotic; that pretty much convinced me. I am a party animal.
Ask any of my friends. They will be the first to tell you I drink,
smoke, fuck, drug, party, whatever - too much. Well, since your
little party girl started her macrobiotic ways, she has lost an
unprecedented amount of weight, functions on less sleep and has
sensed a general feeling of well-being. You too can share with
me the glorious light of the macrobiotic way. I heard a lot of
sick people with cancer and AIDS are doing it. Hey, if it's good
enough for them, it's good enough for your ravaged body.
Here's one of my favorite recipes, a traditional Korean dish altered just slightly for macrobiotics...
Ingredients:
1
package of organic soft tofu
2/5 cups of dried anchovies (this can be found at Korean markets)
1 small pieces of fresh cod (no more than 5 oz.)
8 frozen packaged oysters
6 pieces of yummy shrimp
1/2 medium organic onion
1 stalk of organic green onion
1 tablespoon of dried wakame (this can be found in Japanese
or Korean markets. It's seaweed)
2 tablespoons of red hot Korean chili paste (look for the one without
sugar)
2 tablespoons of dried chili flakes (also at the Korean
market)
Instructions: Bring 5 cups of filtered water to a boil in a stainless pot over gas flame. Do not use electric stoves because the energy produced by electricity alters the nutrients in food, same goes for microwave ovens. Using a cheesecloth or giant teaball (I think people refer to this as a flavor or herb ball - ha ha), put dried anchovies into the boiling water. Let it simmer over medium flame for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, slice onions into relatively thick and even slices and slice again to make those cute little crescent moon shapes. Add to anchovy broth. By now you should remove the cheesecloth or flavor ball. Add cod and let simmer for about 5 minutes. It's soft tofu time - let those curdled soybeans enjoy the Jacuzzi of anchovy broth. Then add oysters, wakame and shrimp. Finally stir in some of that atomic-fire Korean chili paste and flakes (you can use less to meet your cracker palate). Last but not least, thinly slice green onions and add to pot. Serve immediately over hot cooked brown organic rice.
Remember: sugar, coffee, alcohol (except beer and sake), table salt (encouraged substitute is all-natural sea salt), any processed or artificially preserved food, flour, red meat, chicken, eggs, dairy (except goat milk cheese) is bad for you. They deplete your body's energy and make you sluggish and tired - not to mention that they clog up your personal septic tank. - Love, Namella
